What leaves my laptop?
Only what one answer needs: your recent messages, the text of files attached to that chat, and memories that apply. It goes through our gateway to the model under zero data retention. A workflow sends only the text its AI steps read. Web searches go from your laptop to public search engines, which see the search terms.
Does Find files send my files anywhere?
No. KChat gets your files ready and searches them on your laptop. By default, it asks you before the words of a found file go to the AI to answer a question. You can allow it once, for the rest of the chat, or always.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Describe the job in plain words and KChat builds the workflow from ready-made steps. To change it, tell KChat what to change. Every setting is still there in the Advanced view if you want it.
What happens when KChat is not sure?
It says so. Anything it could not read, match or check is listed in the run’s report, never guessed. Steps that need your OK wait for you, and nothing is sent without it.
Does it work without internet?
Your chats, files and workflows open and search without a network. Answers, web searches and the AI steps of a workflow need a connection.
Which computers does it run on?
Macs with Apple silicon on macOS 13 or later, and PCs on Windows 10 or later (x64). It installs for one user, without admin rights, and updates itself.
How is usage counted?
As one number: the percent of this month’s plan you have used. AI steps in workflows count the same way as chat messages. Top up any time.
